One Week Until Opening Night: Step Inside A Murder at the Haunted Manor!
The candelabras are glowing, the tables are being dressed, and the heavy doors of Penwagon Manor are about to swing open. We are officially one week away from opening night of Broadway Maricopa’s brand-new fall dinner theater production: A Murder at the Haunted Manor!
Over the past year, our Maricopa community has blown us away with its incredible support for local arts. From skipping down the yellow brick road in The Wizard of Oz to navigating the twists, river bends, and comedic chaos of Murder Aboard the SS Jungle Queen, your packed houses and enthusiasm are why we keep bringing bigger, more ambitious productions to our city.
This October, we’re thrilled to bring you the ultimate Halloween-season date night and night out with friends—combining a delicious multi-course catered dinner with a suspenseful, hilarious 1970s whodunnit.

Welcome, Honored Guests, to the Haunted Manor
Dinner is served, the shadows are lengthening, and somewhere within these walls, a killer is hiding.
A murder has already taken place, and throughout the evening, the mystery unfolds directly around your table. At the center of it all is our nervous host, Walter Penwagon, struggling to keep an increasingly eccentric evening under control.
As the night progresses, you’ll be introduced to just a few of the mysterious and highly suspicious characters sharing the dining room with you. You might cross paths with George and Jenna Canlistle, a seemingly ordinary Midwestern real estate salesman and his cheerful housewife—though is anyone here exactly who they appear to be? Perhaps you'll find yourself sitting near Madame Zorbababa, an eccentric fortune teller ready to commune with the unseen, or crossing paths with The Welshes, two peculiar, overly polite British travelers who happened to knock on the manor doors at the exact perfect time.
Keep an eye out for a determined crew of retro-gadget-wielding Ghost Hunters thrilled to finally find real spirits, and David Kent, a smooth, mesmerizing hypnotist with a very watchful eye. Add in the chilling, restless spirits of the departed patriarch Sir Charles Penwagon and the tragic, veiled figure of Betty the Ghost Bride demanding answers, and you have a parlor full of motives.

During intermission, you’ll have the chance to compare theories with your table-mates, review the evidence, and size up the suspects. Before the final act draws to a close, every guest will turn in an official detective ballot naming the killer and motive.
